Meetings
We all need to stay active within research, audit and academia for ARCP and National selection purposes and meetings are an excellent place to network, socialise and learn about new technology. They are also a great place to discuss training issues and outcomes from major national audits.
The AOT forum is a great place to keep up-to-date about meetings, prizes and platforms to present your work however we have listed some popular meetings below.
BACO
The British Academic Conference in Otolaryngology is the most attended event in the British ENT calender, and takes place every three years. The 2015 BACO was held in Liverpool, with short paper sessions (and prizes) for trainees in the areas of Laryngology, Rhinology, Otology, Head and neck, Audiology and CAPAG.

The immensely popular and successful BACO 2018 was held in Manchester. The the promotional video can be found below. BACO 2020 will be held at the ICC in Birmingham.

BAPO
The British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists (BAPO) Annual meeting is the largest meeting of its kind in the UK. Their website offers information on the Annual Meeting, available Fellowships and several Paediatric ENT-relevant resources.
BOARS
The British Otorhinolaryngology & Allied Sciences Research Society (BOARS) aims to provide a forum for the best current research in ENT, Hearing & Balance in the UK. BOARS brings together clinical researchers and discovery scientists of all disciplines, levels and grades. BOARS was formed in 2017 as a merger of the Otorhinolaryngological Research Society (ORS) and the British Society for Academic Otorhinolaryngology (BSAO). Continuing the remit of the BSAO, BOARS will also champion education and training in research for ENT trainees of all levels and in all settings, and provide support and mentoring for academic trainees.
BOARS organises two meetings each year. The Spring meeting focuses on free papers, giving presenters a unique opportunity to present their on-going research to leading clinicians and researchers, and receive immediate constructive feedback. The Autumn meeting is held in conjunction with ENT UK, with BOARS organising a free research papers and posters session. There is a competition for best presentations at both meetings.
These meetings provide a valuable opportunity for immediate feedback and critique of your work from an expert audience. The meetings are an excellent way to keep up to date with ongoing research and to meet fellow trainees and academics, so attendance is recommended even if you are not presenting a paper.

ENT UK Meetings
ENTUK run a bi-annual national educational event, the Spring Annual Meeting and the Autumn Annual Meeting. These meetings focus on UK based practice, issues and updates. They also feature opportunities for presentations by trainees. The unique selling point of this meeting is that it occurs at a different locations around the country, so it feels very national and in-touch with members at the sametime. It is opportunity for updates and networking.

RSM Meetings
The Royal Society of Medicine Sections of Otology and Laryngology and Rhinology hold regular meetings at Wimpole Street in London. These tend to be sociable events with excellent outside speakers, so it is worth coming along even if you are not presenting. Each section has a yearly short papers section.
